Causes of Thalassemia in Children

Thalassemia

Thalassemia is a blood disorder related disease in children.  Children get this disease from their parents, so doctors call it a hereditary disease.  World Thalassemia Day is celebrated every year on 8 May to make people aware of it.

When there is Thalassemia, there is a lot of blood loss in the body.  The reason for this is that the manufacturing process of hemoglobin is not done properly.  When there is a lack of blood, the doctors offer blood separately to the child's body so that his whole body can remain healthy.

 Causes of Thalassemia

Red blood cells start decreasing rapidly in the body.

On the other hand, if you talk about women and men, they may have minor thalassemia due to the bad chromosome present in their body.

There are both chromosomes in the human body, when both of them are bad then you get major thalassemia.

When there is a defect in the chromosome, the blood can stop forming in their body only six months after the birth of the child.  Therefore, you should not be negligent in this.

 Types of Thalassemia

First beta thalassemia has two forms, Major and Intermediate.

The second is alpha thalassemia with two subtypes of hemoglobin H and hydropsis fetalis.

 The third is minor thalassemia.

 Symptoms of thalassemia

 Yellowing of the skin

In this case, the color of the child or your skin appears yellow and the eyes look white.  It can also have a bad effect on the liver.  This happens because the red blood cells (RBCs) start to deteriorate, causing the skin to turn yellow.

 More tiredness and weakness

There is a lack of oxygen and iron in the body of the child or elder suffering from it.  Due to which the body starts looking yellow.  Bad red blood cells in the body do not absorb oxygen properly and you feel more tired and weak.

 Changes in urine

In people suffering from Thalassemia, urine is very thick colored.  Actually, this happens due to the decrease in red blood cells.  If you see all these symptoms, get a doctor checked without delay.

 pain in bones

Bone marrow begins to increase due to thalassemia.  When the bone marrow grows, the bones become slightly wider than normal, weakening the bones.  This increases the chance of fracture of bones to a great extent.  In addition, there is constant pain in the bones.

 Treatment of thalassemia

As you all know that in the last few years, there has been a lot of improvement in the treatment of Thalassemia. If the condition worsens then it is possible to treat it with modern equipment.  Many people are now leading longer lives after getting proper treatment.

Let us tell you that the treatment of Thalassemia depends on the type and severity of the disease.  However, it is important for patients with symptoms of thalassemia to know that if they marry, and their partner has the disease, their child is at risk of becoming thalassemia major.

In fact, the treatment of patients with thalassemia major includes chronic blood transfusion therapy, iron chelation therapy, etc.  It also contains some transfusions, which are necessary to supply the red blood cells to the patient in a healthy manner, so that the hemoglobin levels in them remain normal and the necessary oxygen reaches the patient's body.
